Why do people like Mako?

You see, this is just the proof we need to expose the fact that Bryke has no idea what they're doing when it comes to relationships. It was the same in the original series (I'm a Zutara fan, so of course I was upset, but more upset by how little build-up there was to Kataang, it may not have been forced down our throats on the same level as Makorra but...whatever.). Mako is just a romantic interest, he has no real character development. Another thing that pisses me off about Makorra is that it is CLEARLY Bryke's pathetic attempt at an apology to the Zutara fans who were disappointed that their ship got sunk with the ending of AtLA; newsflash Bryke, you can't really believe that we'll just be fine with this as a consolation for the loss of Zutara (and frankly I find it insulting). The crackships make more sense than Makorra, I'd ship Korra with both Amon and Tarrlok at the same time before I'd be okay with Makorra (and I do). Thank you, superlucky13, and anyone else who sees just how ridiculous this plot contrivance is.
